Self-identity is ambiguous, and often only the fabrication of the selfie.
The photographic element of my work explores how our pain influences the formation of self-identity. These wounds construct negative habits and patterns, illustrated by the strings. The resulting form is often complex and painful.
The second layer of the work is the object of colour; the construct of the identity that we feel at the moment.
Our true self-identity lives somewhere between that which we know and that which we do not know. It is a messy construct.

The work explores the unseen forces that create objects. What energy surrounds an object while it is being formed? How does an object birth itself? What is the matter that forms the boundary of an object? The conceptual focus of the work is to understand know an object more deeply.

There are hidden secrets that we do not want to see. At times our edges feel like shattered glass; maybe revealing may lead to healing.

Self identity is a formation of complex layers, often hidden. Each layer has its own texture, colour and materiality living in its own dimension. Layers live together. These paintings illustrate our mental distance between layers. What are the consequences of this?

Chairs are our constant companion and have their own personality.
My chair sculptures create a new human story. The chair becomes a metaphor for our inner life; it is the deep self that we naturally hide.
The function of the chair sculpture is therefore very specific: it asks the viewer to objectify their verbal knowledge of a specific emotional experience.
The sculptures attempt to add to our knowledge of what it means to be a fully engaged human person.

There is a continuous interplay between habits, ego and psychology that shapes and structures our identity. The element of time and repetition illustrate concrete habits and patterns. These construct a real yet invisible object. This work seeks to demonstrate that our hidden identities can be seen as objects. Some of our hidden personalities may be not as hidden as we think.
